Notes on Waterproof/Dustproof/
Shockproof Properties
The product has a protection rating for water resistance equivalent to
IPX5

and IPX8

and for dust resistance equivalent to IP5X

on the
condition that the external connection terminal cover and back cover
are completely attached. The product also achieves MIL-standard
*4
shock resistance (based on testing by the Company).
Specifically, you can talk on the product in the rain without an umbrella
(with precipitation of 20 mm/hour or less), as well as use the product
in where water is present (bathroom, kitchen, etc.)
Before using the product, thoroughly read "Important Items to
Remember before Use" and "Tips for Comfortable Use" to ensure
correct use. Failure to follow the contents described in these sections
may cause the intrusion of water, sand or other foreign material,
resulting in overheating, ignition, electric shock, injury or a fault.
*1 IPX5 equivalent means that the product will maintain its operability as a
phone even if it is sprayed with water from a 6.3 mm diameter nozzle at a
distance of about 3 meters for more than 3 minutes at a rate of about 12.5
liters per minute from any direction.
*2 IPX8 equivalent means that the product will maintain its operability as a
phone with no water getting inside the main unit even if it is gently
submerged in a tank of still tap water at room temperature to a depth of
1.5 meter for about 30 minutes.
*3 IP5X means that the product will have and safely maintain functionality as
a phone after being removed from a test device filled with particles up to
75 µm in diameter and agitated for 8 hours.
*4 Drop test carried out according to MIL-STD-810G Method 516.7-Shock
requirements as stipulated by the US Department of Defense (product
dropped in 26 directions from height of 1.22 m).
Product shock resistance assumes usage in daily situations; subjecting
the product to excessive shock such as by throwing or causing/letting the
product fall forcefully may break the product. Even if performance is not
affected, being dropped can cause scratches, etc.
Since operation of the product on each usage scene was confirmed
based on the above assumption, proper operation of the product in
every possible condition during actual use is not guaranteed.
Malfunctions determined to be caused by mishandling by the
customer are not covered by the warranty.
Important Items to Remember before Use

Make sure the external connection terminal cover is closed firmly
and the back cover is completely attached.

Water resistance is effective when completely sealed.
•
Any minute particles becoming lodged between contact surfaces
(a single hair, grain of sand, etc.), no matter how small, can cause
seepage.
•
Never open/close the external connection terminal cover or back
cover when the product or your hands are wet.
