RRS Economizer Controller Quick Start Guide
17
• If [Occupancy] indicates “Unoccupied”, free cool-
ing operation can decrease the [Damper Com-
mand] to “0.0 %”
Free cooling operation ends when either:
•
24 volts AC input to the RRS Economizer Controller Y1
pin is removed ([Y1-Tstat] indicates “Off”)
•
[Free Clg Avail] indicates “No”
When free cooling operation ends:
•
The RRS Economizer Controller Y1O pin output is ener-
gized ([Compressor 1] indicates “On”) and Simplicity Lite
operation of the compressor from Y1 thermostat/ECON
input can resume if both
• 24 volts AC input to the RRS Economizer Control-
ler Y1 pin remains (free cooling operation ended
because [Free Clg Avail] indicates “No”)
• The [Cmp Min Off Time] timer expires
•
The [Cmp Min Off Time] timer expires
• The active minimum position value if [Occupancy]
indicates “Occupied”
• “0.0 %” if [Occupancy] indicates “Unoccupied”
COMPRESSOR SWITCHING BY SAT INPUT
Compressor switching by the RRS Economizer Controller
supply air temperature input and [Excess SAT Stpt] requires
the following to be effective:
•
There is 24 volts AC input to the RRS Economizer Con-
troller Y1 pin ([Y1-Tstat] indicates “On”)
•
[Free Clg Avail] indicates “No”
•
[Supply Temp] cannot indicate “Out of range high”
Then, when [Supply Temp] falls to or below the [Excess SAT
Stpt]:
•
The RRS Economizer Controller Y1O pin output is de-
energized ([Compressor 1] indicates “Off”)
• Simplicity Lite will display flash code 11 and com-
pressor operation from Y1 thermostat/ECON input
ends
•
The [Cmp Min Off Time] timer begins
•
An “Excessive Supply Air Temp Cooling” Alarm becomes
active
Then, when [Supply Temp] rises above the [Excess SAT
Stpt] and the [Cmp Min Off Time] timer expires:
•
The RRS Economizer Controller Y1O pin output is ener-
gized ([Compressor 1] indicates “On”)
• Simplicity Lite compressor operation from Y1 ther-
mostat/ECON input can resume
•
The “Excessive Supply Air Temp Cooling” Alarm is no
longer active
NOTE:
Compressor operation by Simplicity Lite from input to
the Simplicity Lite Y2 terminal is not influenced by
the RRS Economizer Controller supply air tempera-
ture input and [Excess SAT Stpt]
POWER EXHAUST/ERV FUNCTIONS
Through the ERV-EXH output pin ([Exhaust Fan]), the BASIC
model of the RRS Economizer Controller provides 24 volts
AC output for control of non-modulating power exhaust
accessories or pivoting wheel exhaust recovery ventilator
accessories.
Power exhaust/ERV functions are disabled when [Exhaust
Setup] is set to “None”. The [Exhaust Setup] setting of “Vari-
able Frequency Fan” is not valid for the BASIC model of the
RRS Economizer Controller and should not be used.
Power exhaust control switching when [Exhaust Setup] is set
to “Non Modulating Control”:
•
The [Exhaust Fan] is “On” if the [Damper Command]
rises above the [Damper % Fan On] setting
•
The [Exhaust Fan] is “Off” if the [Damper Command] falls
below the [Damper % Fan Off] setting
NOTE:
Although any setting from 0% to 100% is accepted,
[Damper % Fan Off] must have a setting less than
[Damper % Fan On] and greater than [Damper Min
Pos]
Exhaust recovery ventilator control switching when [Exhaust
Setup] is set to “ERV”:
•
The [Exhaust Fan] is “On” if the [Damper Command]
rises above “50%”
•
The [Exhaust Fan] is “Off” if the [Damper Command] falls
to “45%” or less
RRS ECONOMIZER CONTROLLER ALARMS
[Fault Detect En] must be set to “Enable” for California Title
24 Alarms to be effective. California Title 24 Alarms can only
occur if the cause of the Alarm has been sustained for a
period of 10 minutes or more.
When any Alarm is active:
•
The red FAULT LED will display a repetitive double-flash/
pause
•
The contact between ALMCOM and ALM terminals will
be closed
The five most recently occurring active Alarms are listed at
parameter menu navigation Level 0 and the Level 1 [Alarms]
section of the menu. The active Alarms are listed in order of
most recent to oldest. Alarms are removed from the listing of
active Alarms when the conditions that caused the Alarm are
no longer effective. The listing of active Alarms is not retained
when the controller is not powered.
