RRS Economizer Controller Quick Start Guide
3
Intended to be used with field-built remote alarm indication, a
dry contact between the ALM and ALMCOM terminals at the
lower edge of the RRS Economizer Controller closes when
Alarms are active. The contact is rated at 12 amps for circuits
of 125 volts AC or less.
The USB port at the upper edge of the RRS Economizer
Controller is for connection of a flash drive (or “thumb drive”)
used with several functions in the “Update” section of the
parameter menu.
The LEDs at the center-left of the RRS Economizer Controller
indicate as follows:
•
POWER (green)
- Is lit whenever 24 volts AC power is
present to the RRS Economizer Controller C and R pins.
•
FAULT (red)
- Is lit, then flashes during the boot-up
sequence of the RRS Economizer Controller. Will not be
lit when there are no Alarms active. Will double-flash/
pause continuously when Alarms are active.
•
SA BUS (green)
- Will not be lit (has no function in the
BASIC model of the RRS Economizer Controller used
with field-installed economizer accessories for 3 through
6 ton units).
Technicians access the control parameters of the RRS Econ-
omizer Controller through the four buttons and display in the
center of the controller.
RRS ECONOMIZER CONTROLLER BOOT-UP
SEQUENCE
The RRS Economizer Controller boot-up sequence begins
when unit indoor blower operation is initiated; there is output
from the Simplicity Lite G pin so 24 volts AC power is present
to the RRS Economizer Controller C and R pins. A boot-up
sequence will also begin at the completion of the firmware
update process and restore process.
NOTE:
With RRS Economizer Controller usage, the Simplic-
ity Lite [Fan On Delay: Cool] parameter is not effec-
tive and must remain at the default setting of 0
seconds. Simplicity Lite operation of the compressor
cannot begin until the RRS Economizer Controller
boot-up sequence is completed and the [Cmp Min
Off Time] timer expires (approximately 1 minute, 16
seconds after power is applied to the RRS Econo-
mizer Controller). In situations where the indoor fan
cycles with cooling operation and the unit is pow-
ered-up; operation of the compressor cannot begin
until the Simplicity Lite compressor ASCD expires,
the RRS Economizer Controller boot-up sequence is
completed and the [Cmp Min Off Time] timer expires
(a total minimum of approximately 6 minutes, 16 sec-
onds after power is applied to the unit). If Y1 thermo-
stat input is present, Simplicity Lite will display flash
code 11 during the RRS Economizer Controller boot-
up sequence and the [Cmp Min Off Time] timer
period.
RRS ECONOMIZER CONTROLLER PARAMETER
MENU NAVIGATION
Level 0 of the parameter menu, where either a blank screen
is shown or active Alarm(s) are shown in 20-second intervals,
is displayed following:
•
The boot-up sequence
•
45 minutes of menu navigation inactivity
•
Multiple presses of the esc (cancel) button
FIGURE 4 -

(Level 1 shown in the illustration
above
)
Each press of the
(enter) button navigates to the next
(higher numbered in the “RRS Economizer Controller Menu
