REPLACING THE EXTERNAL PROTECTIVE PLATE
1.
Place the helmet face down. Tilt the headgear unit the sweatband is closer to the top of the
helmet. Now undo the thumb screw turning it anti-clockwise (Fig. 1), remove the thumb screw and put
to one side.
2.
Lift the retainer frame upwards until it is at an angle of roughly 45 degrees (Fig 2). The gently
pull the frame towards the chin of the helmet this will release the hooks (Fig. 3). Once the frame is free
leave inside the helmet but put to one side.
3.
Remove the old protection plate by pushing from the outside of the helmet. Insert the new
protection plate ensuring it is square in the recess. Locate the retainer frame hooks into the locators in
welding helmet. Once located lower the frame and reinsert the thumb screw and tighten.
During assembly of the helmet and auto-darkening fi lter, or during the replacement of the protection
plates, make sure that all parts are fi rmly in place thus preventing any light from entering the helmet.
Should there still be any light entering, repeat the procedure until the problem is eliminated, otherwise
the helmet must not be used for welding.
Before placing the new protection plates, always remove the protection layers from both sides. (Fig 5)
