III.7 Activating the Pinger Frequency Detection
This function allows to detect the coherent acoustic pulses coming from a subsea pinger
(free running transmitter such as Bottom Finder Pinger) and to listen to the noise
generated at the remote dunking transducer (by using the Headphones feature) and.
The access to this menu is allowed by pressing

key in the main menu.

Step Action
1.
Select the type of PFR (Pinger Frequency) to be detected
(MONO
or
MFSK
) then select
the
frequency
(using
SCROLL
key) or the
MFSK code
number (type in the code
number) and confirm by pressing
ENTER
key.
Then TT801 is waiting for acoustic pulses and the message “
RECEIVING DATA
” is
displayed on the last line of the LCD screen.
Each time an acoustic signal matching the TT801 receiver is detected, a dot “
.
” is
displayed and the cursor pushed away to next character position. The received PFR rate
is then measured and displayed as “
Pinger Rate:
xxx“, with xxx in seconds.

You can use the headphones to detect and follow acoustically the pinger frequency.
