To use the CD-ROM drive:

To insert a disc into a tray-load CD-ROM drive, press the eject button to extend the tray.
Place the disc, printed side up, in the tray and press the eject button to load the disc.

To insert a disc into a slot-load CD-ROM drive, insert the disc, printed side up, into the
slot.
u
To eject a disc from the CD-ROM drive, press the eject button adjacent to the CD-ROM
drive slot or tray.
NOTE
The software application being used may prevent the compact disc from ejecting. If so, run the
proper application command to eject the compact disc.

The media player application program(s) included with the operating system allows you to
listen to audio compact discs. Insert an audio compact disc, printed side up, into the CD-
ROM drive and start the media player application. Adjust the volume using the operating
system’s sound control programs.
If you purchased a DVD-ROM drive, you can also use it to play DVD discs. See the DVD-
ROM documentation delivered with the system for more information.
Starting and Shutting Down the System
After you complete Setup and start the system for the first time, you can start and stop the
system as needed.
To start the operating system:
1.
Turn on power to the system.
2.
On a system running Windows 95 or Windows 98, the operating system starts.
On a system running Windows NT Workstation 4.0, the boot menu displays; select
Windows NT to display the logon dialog.
To log on to the operating system:
1.
If the logon dialog does not display, press
CTRL
+
ALT
+
DELETE
to display it.
2.
Type a username and password into the appropriate boxes.
3.
If appropriate, type a domain name.
4.
Select OK or press
ENTER
.
To log off, restart, or shut down the operating system:
1.
Select Shut Down from the Start menu.
