SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
6
. Exercise caution when reaching for objects (lying in front of, behind or to the
side of the wheel chair), that the patient does not lean too far out of the seat.
This weight shift can create a tipping or overturning danger.
7
. The anti-tip system is a device designed to prevent an unintentional backward
fall. The anti-tip system should never be utilized to control the transportation
function of the chair; for example, in an attempt to transport a patient when
the driving wheels have been removed.
8
. Stair should only be climbed with the assistance of an accompanying person.
If ramps or elevators are available, they should be utilized. If ramps or eleva-
tors are not available, two people are needed to carry the wheel chair and
patient up the stairs. If only one person is available, the anti-tip system must
be activated before ascending so that the chair can not be set down on the
stairs, which would other-wise lead to a dangerous fall. Afterwards the anti-
tip system must be returned to the correct position. When using a loading lift
with the anti-tip system, it is important to place the anti-tip device within the
standard area of the loading lift.
9
. The assisting person should be careful to touch the wheel chair only on the
fixed, structural elements of the chair (not, for example, on the foot notch).
10
. Be certain that the clamp lever of the height-adjustable push bar is closed
tightly.
11
. Secure the seat system undercarriage on uneven surfaces or when getting
in or out of the chair (for example, into an automobile) with the brakes.
12
. The knee brake, as well as the general driving handling of the AKTIVLINE
Standard, is dependent on the tire pressure. With correctly inflated drive
wheels with the same air pressure on both sides, the chair will maneuver
more easily and efficiently. Before driving, make certain that the air pressure
is correct for your tires. The correct tire pressure is printed on the wheel
cover, or should be taken from the Tire Pressure Guidelines in Section
14
.
The knee brake is only to be used with sufficient air pressure and the correct
adjustment (max.
10
mm gap, subject to technical changes).
13
. It is important that the Bowden cables, which operate the drum brakes, and
the gas-pressure spring do not protrude into the area of the spokes.
14
. Make certain that your tires have sufficient profile.
15
. We strongly warn that the person sitting in the AKTIVLINE Standard seating
system must be secured with the safety belts at all times.
16
. With certain combinations or adjustment variations it is possible for the swivel
wheels to collide with the footrest. If you notice that the swivel wheels are
prohibited in their turning ability, the adjustment position should be corrected.
17
. Pay close attention to traffic rules when using the AKTIVLINE Standard on
public streets and roads.
