BASIC FEATURES: UNDERCARRIAGE
Tip: The trapezoidal adapter recep-
tacle is equipped with two locking
pins. It is critical that the locking
pins be correctly placed and se-
cured. Before setting the seat shell
on the undercarriage, both locking
pins should be placed so that both
setting pins project through the
adapter plate. When the adapter,
which is mounted under the seat
shell, is now inserted into the
adapter plate, the locking pins will snap into place in the adapter receptacles
with an audible click sound. Test the fit of the seat to the shell system to ensure a
secure and tight fit. Do this by rattling the shell and making sure that the locking
pins do not open or loosen. If the shell moves or the pins open, check and readjust
the adapter system. The attachment of the seat shell to the adapter should be
carried out by a trained interco representative or your authorized dealer.
To remove the seat shell, release both locking pins by pulling in an outward direc-
tion while simultaneously turning the pins
90 °. This will put the locking pins in the
‘open’ position. Remove the security pin which connects the back unit of the seat
shell to the undercarriage. You will now be able to move the seat shell system
forward and detach it from the adapter. Before reinstalling the shell, remember
to turn the locking pins
90 ° again in order to reset them in the ‘closed’ position.
Be careful that the security pin connecting the back unit with the undercarriage
is again moved into place and that it is correctly set and adjusted.
3 . 2 Seat Tilt Mechanism
The AKTIVLINE Standard undercarriage is outfitted with a mechanism allowing
for the individual adjustment of the seat shell angle. Depending on the model, a
continuously variable
30 ° angle adjustment is possible. Correcting or changing
the seat angle is done with the help of two gas-pressure springs.
The following points are important when using the seat angle adjuster:
1 . Press the two small release levers (Photo 18 ) mounted on the push bar. Al-
low the shell system to recline to the desired angle; then release the levers
(Photo
19 ). The seat shell is now adjusted to the desired angle. If the shell does
not recline to the required angle, you can assist it by applying light pressure
to the push bar. To secure the position, it is important to observe that the
release levers have been fully returned to their original position.
