Configurable Ethernet Switch Functions
Function
Description Parameters
Port Enable
Configures each port individually
as enabled or disabled.
Default: All ports enabled.
Enabled: Ethernet packets will be forwarded between the specified
port and the connected segment.
Disabled: The specified port will not transmit or forward packets to
the connected segment.
Auto-Negotiate
Configures each port as enabled
or disabled. Default: Enabled.
Enabled ports negotiate with link
partner and choose the highest
level of operation available from its
own link.
Negotiates port speeds (data rate) of:
10 or 100Mbps
Negotiates port duplex modes of:
Full-duplex or Half-Duplex
Negotiates port flow control as: Enabled or Disabled
Speed
Configures the speed for each port
individually. Default: 10Mbps
Select: 10Mbps or 100Mbps
Duplex Mode
Configures the duplex mode for
each port individually.
Default: Half-duplex mode.
Half-duplex mode: A jam/backoff sequence begins whenever a
collision is detected during frame transmission.
Full-duplex mode: Carrier activity and collision detection is
ignored; frame transmission proceeds.
FDX Flow
Control
Configures each port as enabled
or disabled for full duplex flow
control. Default: Enabled.
Half-duplex (HDX): The port back-pressures a receiving port by
transmitting a jam packet. Note that CSMA/CD is always enabled.
Full-duplex (FDX): When the port receives flow control frames, it
sets the flow control pause time for transmissions of frames.
Returns to normal when the instigating condition subsides.
Auto-MDIX
Configures each port as enabled
or disabled for Auto-Sense.
Default: Enabled
Enabled: The specified port automatically detects and corrects for
crossover cables, allowing direct switch-to-switch connections.
Disabled: The specified port will require a dedicated cable that
ensures communication between the transmitter and receiver on
either end of the cable.

Features
)
Port Mirroring
Default: Disabled
When enabled/configured, traffic of any port will be mirrored
forward to another port for capture and analysis by external
devices.
Authentication
Default: Disabled
When enabled, employs authentication protocol.
Network Time
Default: SysUP Time
When configured for SNTP or TP, GMT is used in timestamping.
Otherwise, relative System Up Time is used.
Ethernet Security
Default: Disabled
When enabled, provides configurable modes of port protection and
security which block illegal access.
