Initializing configuration/programming from a computer
Enrolling/programming and maintenance operations can be done by the installer and authorized tech-
nicians only (Level 3) who can:
1. By means of a screw driver or similar tool, remove the screws and open the control panel cabinet.
2. Connect the programming jumper J2 PROGRAM.
3. Connect a computer to the RS232 port or USB port or, when already connected via Internet,
connect to the Ethernet port of the SmartLAN board (refer to the Installation Manual 7.16
Connecting to a PC or serial printer and 7.17 Connecting a SmartLinkLAN board equipped panel to
a PC).
4. Running the SmartLeague application
These operators can access all programming and maintenance functions.
8.1
Configuring the system manually
Configuring the system manually from a computer allows you define the system structure and
configure the loops, repeaters, network and accessory boards.
This method is recommended for technicians who prefer to configure the system at the installer
company office and download the data to the control panel later. This method is the only method
available when configuring flush-front control panels (i.e. control panels with no keypad or display).
If you intend using the SmartLeague software application, work carefully through the following steps:
1. Define the system structure (control panels, loops, devices, attachment boards, for relevant
information refer to Chapter 10 - Programming SmartLoop).
2. Set the loop parameters (refer to paragraph 17.1 Defining loop typology).
3. Assign addresses to the devices of each loop (refer to paragraph 18.1 How to program loop
devices).
4. Assign the control panel network address (refer to paragraph 24.1 Programming the
SmarLoop\NET board).
5. Connect the computer to the control panel and download the configuration and check that all data
is correct.
Note:
The control panel uploads the configuration from the computer and will match it to the
components that are physically configured in the system. In the event of mismatch, the control
panel will generate a Fault (within 60 seconds) for each missing component. If this occurs, double
check the wiring and addresses and the computer configuration. When you are sure that
everything is satisfactory, re-download the configuration to the control panel.
