same is valid if the brightness is increased. This is because the display has a
nonlinear transfer function and a brightness dynamic range much lower than
the camera. The camera has a built-in 8 transfer function to compensate for this
non-linearity, which is called gamma correction – Figure 2.14.

2.13.2.
User Defined LUT
The user can define any 10-bit to 10-bit transformation as a user LUT and can
upload it to the camera using the configuration utility software. The user can
specify a transfer function of their choice to match the camera’s dynamic range
to the scene’s dynamic range. There are no limitations to the profile of the
function. The LUT must include all possible input values (0 to 1023) – Figures
2.15.
