Vacuum Tubing &
Connections
Confirm all tubing connections are tight between S
MART
-IDS and every print head. Confirm that
the waste bottle is tight and not cross-threaded. Confirm that the in-line vacuum filter is tight. Do
not over-tighten.
Power Supply
Ensure S
MART
-IDS switch is turned on.
Check for power LED on Internal Power Supply Board. If LED is illuminated, check power supply
output on P2. It should be 12VDC.
PC Board
Check the LED indicators and connector voltages on the board.
LED3: Green; indicates a print head is signaling for the Vacuum Pump to turn on.
LED5: Red; indicates the Waste Bottle is full.
LED6: Red; turns on, off, and flashes with the beacon. Off indicates ink is OK, On indicates ink is
low, Slow Flash (1Hz) indicates ink is out, and Fast Flash (6Hz) indicates that the Waste Bottle is
full or the pump was turned on for 10 seconds.
J4: Vacuum Pump connector; 12VDC when Vacuum Pump is on.
Vacuum Pump
Ensure all tubing is connected between the Print Head and the S
MART
-IDS. Make sure the Ink
Waste Bottle is fully tightened. Open S
MART
-IDS and remove any clogs in the line. Initiate an ACS
Cycle, and listen for the pump.
Check for 12VDC at Vacuum Pump.
