G E N E R A L I N F O R M A T I O N
The icemaking machines are approved by VDE and GS and
the relative symbols are put on the packing, serial plate and
body of the machine (pict. nr. 13).
OUR PRODUCTS ARE GOVERNED BY EC LOW TEN-
SION DIRECTIVE 73/23-89/336 AND THE COVER OF
THE MANUAL IS MARKED ACCORDINGLY.
INSTALLATION
Before bringing the icemaker into action perform the fol-
lowing operations:
1) Check that ice maker has not been damaged during tran-
sport (pict. nr. 1).
2) Remove the outfit material from the bin: feeding pipe,
envelope with documentation, levelling feet (for the model
N30) and ice-scoop.
3) Clean the inside of the storage bin with warm water and a
little sodium bicarbonate; rinse with clean water and wipe
thoroughly.
4) Place the icemaker in its selected location and ensure
that it is properly levelled (pict. nr. 10).
NOTE:
Before installing the machine make sure that:
a) the room temperature must not fall below 10°C
(50°F) or above 40°C (100°F) (pict. nr. 7).
b) the main water temperature must not fall below 5°C
(40°F) or above 40°C (100°F).
c) the main water pressure must not fall below 1 atm.
(14 Psi) or above 5 atms. (70 Psi). If pressure is above
5 atms. (70 Psi) a pressure regulator should be fitted
on the water supply machine (pict. nr. 8).
d) machine is away from sources of heat and in a suf-
ficiently ventilated area (pict. nr. 9).
5) Connect machine to water supply first and then to electri-
city supply.
6) Connect the 3/4 “ feeding pipe (supplied) to the machine
and to the cold drinking water supply line. It is advisable to
install a shut-off valve (not supplied by CastelMac). (Pict. nr.
15: 1. switch; 2. socket; 3. electrical plug; 4. water inlet; 5.
shut-off valve; 6. water outlet from the condenser: water-
cooled versions; 7. water outlet from the bin; 8. open vented
water drain).
7) Fix a flexible plastic pipe with an inside diametre of 20
mm. and with adequate length (not longer than 1 metre) to
reach the waste pipe fitting (pict. nr. 15).
- Put the machine in a position that allows a good ventila-
tion of the condenser unit (only for air-cooled models)
(pict. nr. 11).
- Do not put the machine in dusty places because this
could cause a fast obstruction of the condenser (only for
air-cooled models) (pict. nr. 20).
- In case the machine is put in areas where drinking water
has a high content of salts in solution follow the instructions
of the manufacturer in order to limit this inconvenience.
- Never keep food, bottles or other things in the bin in
order to avoid that the ice takes bad smells and tastes.
- While the machine is working do not leave the bin door open.
STARTING THE MACHINE
Before starting the ice producer perform the following ope-
rations:
1) Look at the pictures.
a) Remove the top by unfastening the relative screws.
b) Free paddle motor, paddles and float by removing the
locks 1, 2, 3, which have been fixed to avoid possible dama-
ges during transport (pict. nr. 16). For the water-cooled
models connect to the water outlet also the second link
which conveys the water coming from the condenser. For a
perfect water outlet from the machine a minimum incline of
3% of the pipes is advisable. Check also that the pipes are
not throttled or siphoned. It is advisable that the pipes
discharge in an open vented drain (pict. nr. 15)
2) Connect the machine to the electricity supply after having
checked that the voltage corresponds to that on the plate on
the rear panel of the machine.
The maximum voltage variation should not exceed ±
10% of that stated on the rating plate. Provide for a feeding
circuit to the machine, with its own double-pale main switch
with at least 3 mm. of contacts opening. The machine should
be connected to an independent fuse or suitable power sup-
ply with earth terminal. See rating plate for load require-
ments (pict. nr. 19). The socket must be easily achievable.
To start and stop the machine, press ON/OFF switch (pictu-
re 1). The RESET switch is found in the watercooled models.
If the alarm led switches on, press the RESET button inside
the small door (pic. nr. 22)
The alarm led switches on in case of lack of water due to the
cooling of the condenser or due to condensation problems.
Further instructions about the machine functioning can be
found in the user’s manual

- Alarm Led (C).
A DIFFERENTIAL SWITCH MUST BE INCLUDED IN
THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT.
WARNING:
Do not let the device run before our technician’s interven-
tion (pict. nr. 4).
FUNCTIONING
The ice cube-makers are particularly compact thus allowing
to meet any individual furnishing requirements. The ice
cubes form around the fingers of the evaporator, inside a
pan filled with water which is moved by revolving paddles.
The water level is kept constant by a float connected to a
micro that controls a water inlet electrovalve. When the ice
cubes have reached the required dimensions they get in
contact with the revolving paddles that swing the relative
paddle motor. Such motor operates by means of a relay
controlled by a micro, which causes simultaneously:
- the delivery of hot gas to the evaporator by the opening of
an electrovalve, with the consequent fall of cubes from the
evaporator;
- the tilting of the water pan controlled by a lever of the har-
vest motor.
The formed cubes fall on a slanting grid inside the pan and
are conveyed into the storage bin underneath.
The remaining water, collected in a pan placed on one side
of the bin, is then conveyed to the drain. The tilting pan
automatically returns to its horizontal position after about a
minute and then it fills of water till the selected level. In the
meantime the hot gas valve closes and the ice forming cycle
starts again; the time of a complete cycle can vary from
about 15’ to about 25’ according to water and room tempe-
ratures. The ice quantity inside the bin is controlled through
a thermostat bulb fixed on one side of the storage bin; when
the ice cubes come in contact with the bulb, the production
of ice is automatically discontinued. Only after enough ice
has been removed from the storage bin so as to free the
bulb from the cubes, will the production resume.
NOTE:
If you want your cuber to resume production earlier, whe-
never you take some ice out of the storage bin you should
clear the control bulb from any ice cubes which may be in
contact with it.
