Print settings and tips:
In Slic3r or another slicing program you can choose a few settings for your print. The
quality of your print depends on those settings.
The following settings are just guidelines and you will need to adjust them by trial and
error in order to get the best results for your machine and printing materials.
BASICS :
Printing temperatures
PLA :
For PLA set the bed to 65°C for the whole process and the extruder to 185°C. (possibly
drop to 180°C after the first layer) If the extruder temperature is too high the PLA will
be very runny, if the temperature is too low the PLA won’t stick well and the volume
won’t be right.
ABS :
For ABS set the bed to 100 – 110°C for the whole process to avoid warping (plastic
detaching from the bed and curling up). The temperature of the extruder should be
230°C or slightly higher depending on the used material.
Bed preparation
For PLA you can print directly on glass. Good results have been obtained by first
wiping the bed with lemon juice or applying hair spray. Printing on Kapton tape will also
work.
For ABS it is always best to print on Kapton. For objects with a large base printing on
glass with hair spray seems to work.
Speed
Slic3r lets you choose your own speed settings. Most settings will have an important
influence on the quality of your prints. We encourage our users to experiment with
these settings. Leave these settings standard if you do not know what you are
adjusting. This advice generally holds up for most Slic3r settings.
