MTD : Minimum Transition Distance
The Minimum Transition Distance (MTD) sets the mini-
mum time between two successive edges of the A and
B signals (Table 49). This can be useful to avoid errors
in the motor controller. Some controllers need a mini-
mum transition distance, mainly to be able to count the
edges correctly.

If the actual movement of the motor causes faster
AB-signals than the MTD, the AB edges transition dis-
tance will be limited to MTD. If AB-signals are continu-
ously limited by MTD the internal AB-position increas-
ingly differs from the actual absolute position. If the
difference becomes too large, the AB-calculation will
no longer work correctly, and incorrect AB-signals will
be output, e.g. with incorrect direction of rotation.
BISS Slave Interface
General protocol description
The
BiSS
interface is an open-source serial, bidirec-
tional communications interface used for absolute posi-
tion (SCD) and configuration data transmission.
In
BiSS
mode, iC-PVS acts as a
BiSS
slave and must
be connected to a
BiSS
master for proper operation.
For a detailed description of the
BiSS
Interface, please
refer to
. The
BiSS
serial proto-
col used by iC-PVS is shown in Figure 16.
