Move
the
BIOS
backup
page
switch
(SW4-2)
to
the
Closed
position
to
enable
the
backup
page.

Install
the
MPE
unit,
if
one
was
removed
to
access
SW4
(see
“Installing
an
expansion
unit”
on
page
71).
9.
Install
the
cover
and
reinstall
the
blade
server
in
the
BladeCenter
unit,
making
sure
that
the
blade
server
is
connected
to
the
media
tray.
10.
Insert
the
BIOS
flash
diskette
into
the
diskette
drive.
11.
Turn
on
the
blade
server.
The
system
begins
the
power-on
self-test
(POST).
12.
Select
1
-
Update
POST/BIOS
from
the
menu
that
contains
various
flash
(update)
options.
Attention:
Do
not
type
Y
when
you
are
prompted
to
back
up
the
ROM
location;
doing
so
causes
the
damaged
BIOS
to
be
copied
into
the
backup
page.
13.
When
you
are
prompted
whether
you
want
to
move
the
current
POST/BIOS
image
to
the
backup
ROM
location,
type
N.
14.
When
you
are
prompted
whether
you
want
to
save
the
current
code
to
a
diskette,
type
N.
15.
Select
Update
the
BIOS
.
Attention:
Do
not
restart
the
blade
server
at
this
time.
16.
When
the
update
is
complete,
remove
the
flash
diskette
from
the
diskette
drive.
17.
Turn
off
the
blade
server
and
remove
it
from
the
BladeCenter
unit
(see
“Removing
the
blade
server
from
a
BladeCenter
unit”
on
page
65).
18.
Remove
the
cover
of
the
blade
server
(see
“Removing
the
blade
server
cover”
on
page
68).
19.
If
an
MPE
unit
is
installed,
remove
the
MPE
unit
(see
“Removing
an
expansion
unit”
on
page
70).

Move
switch
SW4-2
to
the
Open
position
to
return
to
the
normal
startup
mode.

Install
the
MPE
unit,
if

removed

SW4

cover

the

server
in

error
codes
The
baseboard
management
controller
(BMC)
log
contains
up
to
512
of
the
most
recent
service
processor
errors
in
IPMI
format.
These
messages
are
a
combination
of
plain
text
and
error
code
numbers.
You
can
view
the
BMC
log
from
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
menu
by
selecting
Advanced
Setup
→
Baseboard
Management
Controller
(BMC)
Settings
→
BMC
System
Event
Log
.
You
can
view
additional
information
and
error
codes
in
plain
text
by
viewing
the
management-module
event
log
in
your
BladeCenter
unit.
