Resolving Mwave resource conflicts

Starting and using the
Windows 95 Device Manager
Use the Windows 95 Device Manager to verify or
change the resources used by your Mwave card or to
determine whether the joystick port on your Mwave
card is enabled.
You can use the Device Manager to resolve several
resource conflicts, such as those that might occur with
input/output (I/O) address, interrupt request (IRQ), and
direct memory access (DMA) resources.
To start the Device Manager, follow these steps:
1.
From the Windows 95 desktop, double-click on the
My Computer
icon.
2.
In the My Computer window, double-click on the
Control Panel
icon.
3.
In the Control Panel window, double-click on the
System
icon.
4.
In the System Properties window, click on the
Device Manager
tab.
To view or change I/O address, interrupt request, and
direct memory access resources for an installed Mwave
card, follow these steps:
1.
In the System Properties window, click on the
Device Manager
tab.
2.
Click on the
View devices by type
radio button.
3.
Double-click on the
IBM Mwave Digital Signal
Processors
list item to expand the list underneath
this item.
4.
Double-click on the item in the expanded list.
5.
In the window that appears, click on the
Resources
tab.
To view or change I/O address and interrupt request
resources for a port on an installed Mwave card, follow
these steps:
1.
In the System Properties window, click on the
Device Manager
tab.
2.
Click on the
View devices by type
radio button.
3.
Double-click on the
Ports (COM & LPT)
list item
to expand the list underneath this item.
4.
Double-click on the
Mwave Communications
Port (COM1)
item in the expanded list.
5.
In the Mwave Communications Port (COM1)
Properties window, click on the
Resources
tab.
You can also use the Device Manager to resolve Mwave
resource conflicts with other devices, such as sound and
musical instrument digital interface (MIDI) devices. If
your computer has these devices installed, the Device
Manager displays entries (list items) for the devices. For
instance, sound devices might be contained in the
expanded list that appears when you double-click on the
the
Sound, video, and game controllers
list item.
