Tire Removal, Three- and Four-Piece Wheels

WARNING

Make sure all of the air pressure is removed from the
tire before a wheel is disassembled. Air pressure in the
tires can cause the tire and rim parts to explode caus-
ing serious injury or death.

Keep tire tools in firm contact with the wheel parts. If
the tool slips, it can move with enough force to cause
an injury.

1. 

Loosen the tire bead from

the side flange.

2. 

Put the tire tool into the slot

between the lock ring and wheel
rim. Remove the lock ring and
side flange. If there is a flange
seat, remove it.

3. 

Loosen the bead from the other

side of the wheel rim. Remove the
valve stem from the wheel. If there
is a washer, keep it for installation
during assembly.

4. 

Remove the wheel rim from the

tire.
