12.1 Introduction
After the patch runs successfully, a "patchstate.dat" file is created at the root directory of the
Flash Memory. Do not delete the file; otherwise, the patch remains invalid after restart.
The service of carriers always should be long-term operation and non-interruption. The
upgrade and maintenance of the router can be realized through installing patches. This does
not break the operation of the router.
At the same time, the system allows the running of only one system patch. As a result, you
need to confirm no patch is running in the current system before installing a patch. If a patch
runs in the system, delete the patch before installing the new patch.
The NE provides the patch function, and you can use the patch program released by Huawei
to upgrade the system software. A patch program has three statuses: activated, deactivated and
running.
