8.23 What is the working principle of GPS?
The phone sends its location information (latitude and longitude coordinates) to the
positioning background through the self-attached GPS module. Then, the positioning
background calculates the coordinates on the electronic map and marks the positioned object
on the map, which shows the current geographical location of the phone.
8.24 What are the differences between GPS and base
station positioning?
For GPS, the phone sends its location information to the positioning background through the
self-attached GPS module, and the positioning background performs positioning. For base
station positioning, the base station of the telecommunications carrier determines the phone's
location by calculation the distance between the base station and the phone.
GPS uses the satellite for positioning, which consumes more power but is more accurate. GPS
doesn't work when the phone is placed indoors. Base station positioning is less accurate, but it
works indoors.
8.25 How can I prohibit an application from acquiring
personal location information?
Go to Settings > All > Location access and disable Network location.
You can also use Phone Manager to protect your privacy. Go to Phone Manager >
Permission manager > Rights > Access location info . Then, prohibit applications from
accessing the location information.
