5.3.15 (Optional) Enabling the Handshake Function

After the handshake function is enabled, the AR1200-S sends handshake packets periodically
to detect whether users are online.

Context

If a client does not support the handshake function, the AR1200-S will not receive handshake
response packets within the handshake interval and considers that the user is offline. Therefore,
if the client does not support the handshake function, disable the handshake function on the
AR1200-S.

Procedure

Step 1

Run:

The system view is displayed.

Step 2

Run:

dot1x handshake

The AR1200-S is enabled to send handshake packets to online users.

By default, the AR1200-S sends handshake packets to online users.

Step 3

(Optional) Run:

The handshake interval between the AR1200-S and the 802.1x client is set.

By default, the handshake interval between the AR1200-S and the 802.1x client is 60s.

AR1200-S Sends Authentication Requests

Users may not respond to authentication requests if packets are discarded because of an unstable
network. To solve the problem, set the maximum number of times authentication requests are
sent.
