Using the Docking Solutions

Corporate Evaluator’s Guide 127

Note

Hot Swap is not supported in the Docking System module bay. You must restart the
OmniBook when changing modules in the Docking System module bay.

Hot Docking is not supported with an external video adapter is installed in the Docking
System. Always shutdown and turn off the OmniBook before docking or undocking the
OmniBook if you are using an external video adapter. Also do not suspend the
OmniBook while using an external video adapter. Power Management is not supported
with an external video adapter.

To install the HP Notebook docking system support

If you are going to use the HP Notebook Docking System you must install a new IDE
driver in Windows 95. Perform this procedure before inserting the HP Notebook into the
dock.

The HP Notebook Docking System IDE driver is located on the Recovery CD at
\HP\DRIVERS\W95\DOCKING\IDE and \HP\DRIVERS\W95\DOCKING\SCSI.

1. Copy the CMDDMA.INF file from \HP\DRIVERS\W95\DOCKING\IDE to

C:\WINDOWS\INF.

2. Insert the HP Notebook in the HP Notebook Docking System.

3. Windows 95 will build a Docking Hardware profile.

4. Click OK in the Configuration Setup Window.

5. When prompted for the IDE drivers, enter \HP\DRIVERS\W95\DOCKING\IDE on

the Recovery CD and click OK.

6. From Control Panel, double-click Display, then click Settings.

7. Change the Display Resolution to the appropriate setting and click OK.

8. Click Yes to save your change.

9. From Control Panel, double-click System, then click Device Manager.

10. Open “PCI NCR C810 SCSI Host Adapter” under SCSI Controllers.

11. Click Driver then Update Driver.

12. Click Select from a list and double-click PCI NCR C810 SCSI Host Adapter.

13. Click Other Locations.

14. Enter the \HP\DRIVERS\W95\DOCKING\SCSI directory on the Recovery CD and

click OK.
