QuickRestore

Compaq QuickRestore
enables you to restore your
system files from a separate
partition on your hard
drive.

Before you perform any
restore or backup tasks, create
a QuickRestore Emergency
Diskette. For the steps
required to create this diskette,
see “Creating a QuickRestore
Emergency Diskette.”

Selective Restore allows
you to select certain
Compaq drivers or
applications you want to
reinstall without
reformatting your hard
drive.

Quick Restore

Quick Restore Options

The five options for QuickRestore are listed below.

NOTE:

Do not leave your computer unattended while QuickRestore is running

because you are periodically required to enter information. If you do not enter the
required information, your computer may not complete the QuickRestore
process.

Selective Restore

1. From the Windows desktop, double-click the

Compaq

Support

icon.

2. Click the

QuickRestore

icon. The QuickRestore main menu

is displayed.

3. Place your cursor over the

Selective Restore

icon. If you see

a message stating that no applications were found, there may
be some files missing or corrupted, and you may need to
contact Compaq Technical Support to resolve the problem.
Otherwise, proceed to the next step.

QuickRestore

Restore Option

Description

Selective Restore

Restores selected Compaq drivers or applications that
you want to reinstall without reformatting your hard drive.

User Backup

Backs up all information and files on your hard drive and
stores them in a separate partition on your drive.

User Restore

Restores your hard drive to the state it was in at your last
User Backup.

Quick Restore
Emergency Diskette

Allows you to save your computer’s unique setup
information for use in case of an emergency. Store the
diskette in a safe place.

Factory Restore

Restores your computer to its original factory-installed
software state.
