11.0 WALK TEST OPERATION
Walk-Test allow s an in staller to ve rify the Initiating C ircuit w iring in a s ystem . Wa lk-Te st is a sp ecial Configuration
Mode Function (Fu nctio n 80 on the Co nfigu ration D IP Sw itche s). C ircu its to be tested are identified using the Circ uit
Disconnect Switches. Activation of any Initiating Circuit which has been selected for Walk-Test will cause the Audib le
Indicating Circ uits (n ot Stro bes ) to ac tivate briefly for a number of short bursts corresponding to the
selected
circuit
num ber. If the first
selected
Circuit is activated, the Indication Circuits will sound for one burst. If the second
selected
Circ uit is activa ted, the Indic ation C ircuits w ill sound for two bursts, and so on. This means that if say Circuits 1,6,23,32
were selec ted for W alk-T est, they w ould sound with 1,2,3,4 bursts respectively. The maximum num ber of Circuits that
may be set at any one time for Walk-Test is 15. The burst interval is half a second on half a second off. After the
sounding pattern has been sent on the Indicating Circuits, the Initiating Circuit is reset and tested ag ain. If it is still active
(in alarm ) the p attern will b e re-sen t. Trou ble o n an y Initiating Circuit selected for Walk-Test causes the Indicating
Circuits to be activ ated con tinuo usly for 5 sec ond s.
Alarm Verification and Water-flow Alarm Retard Operations are disabled on Circu its being Wa lk-Te sted. All Circ uits
not selected for Walk-Test continue to function normally. If a Circuit was Disconnected before Walk-Test mode was
entered and is not selected for Walk-Test, it remains Disconnected while Walk-Test is active. Wa lk-Te st opera tion is
disabled if the Fire Alarm Control Panel is in Alarm or goes into Alarm while Walk-Test is active.
If there is no activity for o ne ho ur, the Sy stem will return to nor ma l ope ratio n, bu t will re ma in in tro uble until th e D IP
sw itche s are rese t and the pa nel is rese t.
