Check the image quality mode.

The quality of image to be recorded depends on
the setting of this mode: Switch the image quality
mode between FINE and STND.
* The maximum recording time of PC card

depends on whether you choose image quality
mode FINE or STND (see page 94).

* See “Switching image quality mode of moving

pictures” (See page 94).

Record.

Press the REC/PAUSE button, the "REC" indica-
tor will appear.
Recording will start.  When the REC button is
pressed again, recording of the file will end.
Sound is always recorded with moving pictures:
You cannot record pictures without sound.
During recording, the "REC" indicator lights
(RED Color), and "

→

" indicates in the LCD

monitor.  When recording is finished, it will
change to "PAUSE" (GREEN color).

Set the CAM/OFF/PLAY switch to
OFF.

After recording is finished, set the switch to OFF to turn power off.

Do not turn power off when the ACCESS indicator is flashing: This could destroy the stored
data.

Be sure you first set the switch to OFF even if you want to set it to PLAY immediately.  If you
don't, the MP-EG10W could malfunction.

Minimum distance recording

The MP-EG10W can record a subject as close as 28 cm(11.2 in.).  If you want a greater closeup on a sub-
ject, select macro recording (see page 37). You can bring a subject as close as 8 cm into focus with macro
recording.

Auto power off (ENERGY SAVE ON)

The MP-EG10W has an “auto power off (in 5 minutes)” function to prevent battery from going dead.  When
the recording pause mode (during recording) or playback stop mode (during playback) or playback pause
mode (during playback, except for auto play, repeat play) or start Media Navigation (during playback) con-
tinues for 5 minutes or more, the MP-EG10W will turn off automatically.  Press the PLAY or REC button on
the MP-EG10W to turn the MP-EG10W on again.  The original operation mode will be restored.
You can disable the auto power off function.  See "Switching Auto Power Off Setting" on page 78 for details.
