Cleaning the Optics

Exicor GEN5 User Manual

Figure 6.8 Rail Lubrication Points

The lubrication process is best to do with 2 people – one operating the grease gun
and one firmly pressing the adapter onto the grease fitting. Follow these steps to
lubricate the guide rail bearings:

1. Attach the push-on adapter to the grease gun hose by pressing the fitting on

the adapter into the socket in the hose.

2. Firmly press the adapter onto the grease fitting of the 1

st

bearing block.

3. Dispense grease with 1 full stroke of the lever. Make sure the grease is

actually going into the grease fitting. Grease should not come out around the
fitting during this process.

4. Repeat this for all the other bearing blocks.
5. Move the gantry ~ 10 cm by pushing or pulling on the source module

actuator.

6. Repeat the steps above 2 more times.

Cleaning the Optics

Under normal operation, the optics do not require cleaning. Never clean or touch
the optics when the system power is ON.
If a substance such as Index Matching fluid (coupling oil) drops into the detector
aperture, the oil could coat the mirror surface and cause a loss of signal at the
detectors. If this occurs, clean the mirror with cotton swabs moistened with solvent.
Wipe the surface gently while rotating the swab slowly. This action ensures that the
contaminants are lifted away from the surface of the optic. See figure 6.4.
