Electrically Operated General Ward Bed

Operation and Maintenance Manual

11. Lower the backrest.

12. Fully elevate the knee-break, fold the mattress and repeat the cleaning

procedure for the lower half of the bed.

13. Reposition the mattress on the base.

14. Raise the siderails and clean them.

15. Fully raise the bed and clean the bed bumpers, foot operated pedals (if

present), and all underpanels of the bed.

16. Make sure the wheels are clean and have no debris. Make sure that they

rotate freely.

17. Discard the detergent solution and have the cloth cleaned or discard it.

Clean the solution container and put the items away.

Electrical Components Cleaning

SHOCK HAZARD:

Make sure to keep water away from the power supply cable. Failure to
keep water away from the power supply cable may cause injury.

Make sure that water can not go into the power supply cable connection.

The materials used in the control boxes, handsets, and actuators are resistant to
many detergents and disinfectants commonly used in hospital and health
facilities.

Observe these facts in regard to detergents:

• The detergent must not have strong alkaline or acidic values (pH value 6-

8).

• The detergent must not contain corrosive or caustic matters.

• The detergent must not contain chemicals that will change the surface

structure or adhesive ability of the plastics.

• The detergent must not dissolve grease.

NOTE:

Organic solvents like halogenide/aromatic hydrocarbons and ketones must not
be used.

NOTE:

Cleaning by means of a hand controlled jet pipe is not permitted (i.e. connected
to a steam cleaner).
