4.3

Backrest Actuator

Tools required:

Screwdriver
17 mm spanner wrench
#2 phillips screwdriver
Bed stand

Removal

This procedure covers both 150 mm and 200 mm backrest actuators.

SHOCK HAZARD:

Failure to unplug the unit from its power source could cause injury or
equipment damage.

1. Unplug the bed power.

2. Lock all functions at the attendant control panel.

3. Set the brakes.

WARNING:

If the backrest is in the up position, it must be braced before the
actuator bolt is removed. Failure to brace the bed correctly can cause
injury.

4. Brace the backrest as needed.

5. Remove the nut from the bolt on the extension end of the actuator.

6. Disconnect the CPR quick-release cable from the actuator.

7. Remove the nut and bolt from the motor end of the actuator.

8. Remove the cable clamps as required to remove the cable.

9. Disconnect the cable-to-control box connection as required to allow the

actuator to be removed from the bed.

NOTE:

The type of cable from the actuator will vary depending on the configuration
and date of manufacture.
