System description
System components
The S-biosystem incubation system consists of the following standard components:
– 1 × S-rack (rack for four S-boxes) with pressure reducer
– 2 × S-wall, side panels for S-rack
– 1 × S-base, base for S-rack
– 1 × S-mount, wall bracket for S-rack
– 4 × S-box (carrier for one inner box)
– Adapter with suitable power cord for S-rack
The following optional components are available:
– Portable PC, type MacBook Air of Apple Inc. Cupertino CA, including power
adapter set and pre-installed S-ware monitoring software
– 1 × S-console, stand for MacBook Air, including network hub
– 1 × USB-C adapter

S-rack
The S-rack is used to supply up to four S-boxes with electrical power and gas.
In addition, the S-rack can connect the S-boxes to the S-ware via a network connection
(LAN).
S-box
The S-boxes enable cell cultivation and storage under individual and optimal conditions.
The separation of the cell cultures reduces the potential for mix-ups and possible
cross-contamination and thus leads to increased process safety.
Thanks to its design and the integrated Li-ion battery, the S-box can operate inde-
pendently in the steady state for up to two hours. The S-box is therefore ideally
equipped for daily supply of the cells, including in the sterile workbench.
During operation, a gas pressure (CO
2 ) of 0.5 bar is applied to each incorporated S-box.
All sensor data and events can be recorded during operation for documentation
purposes.
Sensors
Each S-box is equipped with a temperature, a CO2 and a humidity sensor, whose data
are transferred to the S-ware via the S-rack.
– The temperature sensors are calibrated in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.
