Guide for connection to a PLC

Steps for successful PROFIBUS linking:

1. Mechanically connect the device to the PROFIBUS (see page 25 and

page 18)

2. Set the PROFIBUS address on the device (the HBM “PME Assistant"

software can also be used for this).

3. Configure and parameterize the PROFIBUS telegram with a configuration

tool (such as Step7) and GSE files, or manually, in accordance with
chapters 10.1 and 10.2.

A GSE file describes the properties of a PROFIBUS node in a standardized
form. The configuration tool uses it to specify which data content on the
individual bus nodes will be exchanged on the PROFIBUS.

A standard GSE file for the PME modules is supplied with the device (on the
CD - hbmxxx.gsd = German; hbmxxxgse = English).
