6. Set the
Protocol
field to
Xmodem
and select the firmware file from the local machine.
7. Click the
Send
button to upgrade the firmware. The switch verifies the file once the transfer is
complete.
8. Reboot the switch when the prompt appears to apply the new firmware.
Saving the Configuration File
1. While still connected to the switch using HyperTerminal, go to the Main Menu.
2. Select
Command Line (CLI)
from the Main Menu.
3. Type the following two lines at the command prompt:
HP ProCurve Switch 3400cl-48G(config)#
write memory
HP ProCurve Switch 3400cl-48G(config)#
copy startup-config xmodem pc
The first command saves the configuration file in flash memory. The second command copies the
configuration file.
4. Press Enter when prompted.
5. Select
Receive File
from the
Transfer
menu on the HyperTerminal menu bar. A Receive File
window appears.

6. Select the folder in which the configuration file will reside.
7. Change the
Use receiving protocol
field to
Xmodem
.
8. Click the
Receive
button to download the configuration file.
9. Name the configuration file when prompted. You may want to use the serial number or the
location of the switch for easy reference. (For example, use “switch1rack1” as part of the
configuration file name.)
Uploading the Configuration File
1. While still connected to the switch using HyperTerminal, go to the Main Menu.
2. Select
Command Line (CLI)
from the Main Menu.
3. Type the following at the command prompt:
HP ProCurve Switch 3400cl-48G(config)#
copy xmodem startup-config
You will see the following response:
Device may be rebooted, do you want to continue [y/n]?
4. Type “y” to continue. You will see the following response:
Press ‘Enter’ and start XMODEM on your host...
5. Press
Enter
to continue.
6. Select
Send File
from the
Transfer
menu on the HyperTerminal menu bar. A Send File
window appears.
