Descaling the appliance
Your Espresso Machine must be regularly
descaled to ensure it always functions prop-
erly. For normal water hardness, this usually
needs to be done after approx. 1000 brewing
cycles. Your Espresso Machine shows you
that this is necessary when all four LED rings
flash red twice after switching on the appli-
ance.
Use a commercially available descaler for
descaling.
Please keep the following safety instructions
in mind when descaling:
WARNING
Health hazard!
Descalers are irritating and can affect your
health. They can also damage other ob-
jects and textiles.
■
Keep descalers out of the reach of chil-
dren.
■
Avoid direct contact with the descaler.
In case of direct contact, rinse eyes and
skin under plenty of running water.
■
Do not ingest the descaler. Seek medi-
cal attention immediately if ingested.
■
Do not mix the descaler with other clean-
ing agents and descalers or other chem-
icals.
■
Wash hands after using the descaler.
■
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions
for the descaler.
Risk of scalding!
Hot water is released from the portafi lter
and steam lance during descaling.
■
Avoid coming into contact with the hot
water and the metal parts of the porta-
fi lter and the steam lance.
