Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning
Clean the Espresso Machine regularly to
protect your health, to prevent damage to the
machine and achieve the best possible es-
presso taste.
WARNING
Risk of electric shock!
Water that has seeped inside may cause a
short circuit or electrocution.
■
Switch off the appliance and pull out the
mains plug before every cleaning and
maintenance.
■
Never immerse the appliance in water or
other liquids.
■
Do not put the appliance in a dishwash-
er.
■
Do not use a steam cleaner.
CAUTION
Risk of burns!
The portafi lter and steam lance can remain
hot even after switching off the appliance.
■
Allow all parts to cool completely before
cleaning.
NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the appliance may
result in damage.
■
Do not use any solvent-based, abrasive
or scouring cleaners (e.g. oven or grill
spray) or cleaning utensils such as scour-
ing pads or similar. They could damage
the surfaces.
■
Do not put appliance parts in the dish-
washer. They are not dishwasher-safe.
Cleaning the housing
Use normal rinsing water to clean the hous-
ing. Use a damp kitchen towel to wipe down
the surfaces.
Cleaning the grinder
The grinder can be removed for cleaning:
1. If you haven’t already done so, switch the
Espresso Machine off and pull out the
mains plug from the socket.

2. Lift the portafilter holder for grinding (17)
slightly and remove it.

3. Turn the dial for selecting the degree of
grinding (19) to ‘5’ and press the grinder
release button (20) while turning the dial
for setting the degree of grinding further
to the right.
4. Pull the grinder down and out.
5. Clean the grinder by means of the clean-
ing brush (g).
