Replacing the storage controller and its power fail
safeguard module
This section describes the detailed operating steps for replacing the storage controller and its power
fail safeguard module.
Operation scenario

The storage controller fails.
•
Replace the storage controller with another model.
•
The storage controller hinders maintenance of other parts.
•
The power fail safeguard module fails.
•
The power fail safeguard module hinders the maintenance of other parts.

Prerequisites
•
Replace the storage controller with one of the same model. Please specify the information
about the storage controller and BIOS to be replaced.
The model, operating mode, and firmware version of the storage controller.
Specify the boot mode of BIOS.
Specify the first boot item setting of the storage controller in the Legacy boot mode.

To replace the storage controller with another model, back up in advance the data in the drive
controlled by the storage controller to be replaced, and clear the RAID configuration
information.
Take the following ESD prevention measures:
•
Wear antistatic clothing.
•
Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.
•
Do not wear any conductive objects, such as jewelry or watches.
•
Identify the position of the SATA M.2 SSD to be replaced.
•
Identify the RAID array information of the SSD to be replaced. To replace an SSD that is not
configured with a RAID or is in a non-redundancy RAID array, back up all data.
