USB port
The USB port on the top connector panel of the LT51 is used for down-loading
new software, up-loading test results or instrument control from a PC. A
standard USB cable with a type “B” plug (for the LT51) and type “A” plug for the
PC is provided. Refer to ‘PC Interface’ for directions to download new software
and upload results.
DC power jack
A 2.1mm barrel jack accepts an external DC input to power the tester and
charge the battery. This jack accepts a 5 to 6 VDC centre-positive voltage that is
provided either by the supplied AC/DC adaptor or by the optional 12Vdc Vehicle
Power Adaptor.
Microphone and speaker
A built-in microphone and speaker is provided for voice conversation when the
LT51 is acting as a telephone. Line activity and tone reception on the RTXa-b
terminals can also be monitored with the speaker.
Knob
The knob is used for the following functions:
setting transmit level and frequency information
moving the marker around the spectral display
adjusting the speaker volume
setting the level meter frequency span and centre frequency for selective
meter function
setting TDR distance, PVF, zoom and offset
Depressing the knob serves the same function as the key, and can be
used at any time.
LEDs
DC power (green)
– illuminates when a 5 to 6 VDC input is applied to the
DC power jack, and the batteries are fully charged.
Charging (red)
– illuminates when charging internal NiMH cells from ext. DC
power. When the charging is complete, the red LED turns off & the green
LED turns on.
