5.3.1.8 Metadata Settings

5.3.1.8.1 Streamed Metadata

Metadata includes changes related to a video stream and camera event data, and is sent over

the stream alongside the video and audio streams. Metadata provides context to events in the

digital video stream, allowing the video to be organized, searched, and retrieved easily.

Metadata offers three important functions to a VMS - search, alert/alarm and reporting.

Metadata topics are mainly used to send camera or video events to the NVR/VMS. Analytics

rules created in

Motion/Analytics > Rules

can be added to a metadata stream.

Enable to add Metadata streaming to the Media Profile and configure it using the parameters

below.

Metadata can be analyzed by external systems, such as certain ONVIF NVR/VMS systems
