When the motor is running,

always

keep well clear of the area around the propeller, as this represents

the greatest risk of accident and injury. It is also important to prevent any loose cloth - such as clothing
or cleaning rags - becoming tangled in the rotating parts of the power system.

When operating the model you must

ensure

that no object can obstruct the propeller - extreme injury

hazard. This also applies when you are lifting the boat out of the water.

We recommend that you set the radio control system to

PCM / SPCM

mode for running the model, as

this makes it possible to program a fail-safe for the speed controller, causing it to stop if a problem oc-
curs. If you are intending to use a radio control system which lacks a fail-safe option, we

strongly rec-

ommend

the use of a separate Failsafe Micro Module (Order No. 98023) on the throttle channel: set up

the unit to stop the motor if interference occurs.

Check that all the drive train components work smoothly and freely. This applies in particular when you
are running the model, as leaves and other detritus can get caught up in the power train. If this happens
and you do not remove the obstruction, the propeller, the rudder and / or the rudder servo may be ruined
due to overloading. It is also important to avoid the boat passing over hard or fixed objects in the water,
as these may cause damage to the rudder system or the hull. This hazard is particularly prevalent in riv-
ers, as flotsam comes past quickly and is difficult to see.

Never leave batteries on charge unsupervised. Be sure to read and observe the instructions provided
with the charger and the battery.

If you use a charger powered by the battery of your car, it is essential to carry out the charging process
outside the vehicle.

Ensure that the rudder servo is not mechanically obstructed at any point in its travel.

Dry cells and rechargeable batteries must never be short-circuited. Do not allow them to come into direct
contact with water.

Allow the motor and speed controller to cool down thoroughly after each run. Take care not to touch the
hot parts!

NOTE:

the recommended speed controller is not designed for continuous part-load running, i.e. if you

intend to run the boat at less than maximum speed for long periods, you must solder the power capacitor
plate, Order No. 2894.35, to the speed controller.

NOTE:

part-load running means protracted periods of

running (more than thirty seconds) at half-throttle.

Do not subject the model to high levels of humidity, heat, cold, vibration or dirt for prolonged periods.

Remove all batteries (dry and rechargeable) from the boat before laying it up. It is important to store all
batteries in such a way that short-circuits are impossible.

If you know you will not be operating the model for a considerable time, re-lubricate the drive shaft and
clean the entire model.

Secure the model, batteries and RC equipment carefully when transporting them. They may be seriously
damaged if they are free to slide about.

Please bear in mind that the boat can only move in the forward direction. Don’t allow the model to run
into a position where you cannot recover or retrieve it!

If you wish to operate the model on moving water (e.g. a river), remember that it could be washed away
downstream if a malfunction occurs or the battery is depleted.

If you have to

salvage

 the model, take care

not to risk your own life or that of others

Check regularly that the hull is completely watertight, as the model may sink if too much water enters the
hull. Check the boat for damage before

every

run, and ensure that water cannot penetrate the hull

through the shaft or rudder openings - in particular the rubber bellows on the rudder pushrod.

It is also essential to seal the boat using waterproof adhesive tape before

every

 run, to prevent water

entering the hull. Please bear in mind that components damaged by water are not eligible for repair un-
der guarantee!

TIP:

buoyancy aids for swimmers in the form of long strips of foam (‘foam noodles’) can

be purchased from any sports shop; they can easily be cut to size and installed in the model - especially
in the sponsons - to improve its buoyancy. Please note, however, that there is little point in installing in-
sufficient buoyancy material; the hull must be fitted with sufficient foam to support the weight of the mo-
del.

TIP:

we recommend that you spray the electronic components in the model with wet.protect, Order No.

968.50, in order to protect them from water damage. This material is a special penetrating oil which de-
posits a thin film of oil over the electrical components, and this protects the parts from oxidation damage
due to water.

Care and maintenance

Clean the model carefully after every run, and immediately remove any water which has penetrated the
hull. Leave the hatch cover open for a long period so that any residual damp can dissipate away.
