Cut a slot 3 x 25 mm in the underside of the motor nacelle for the main undercarriage leg. The picture also shows the
correct clearance between the spinner and the front face of the motor nacelle. Ensure that the spinner cannot possibly
foul the screw-heads.
Prepare the second motor nacelle in the same way.
Cut out the front face of the air intake at the bottom of the nacelles, and apply the oval black decal to the front faces
before installing the motors permanently.
Caution:
it is important to test-run the motors before gluing the nacelles to
the wing: the static current drain should be around 4.1 A at 7.4 V, i.e. with two LiPo cells.
Caution:
if you
subsequently switch to three LiPo cells, you must use smaller propellers, e.g. Order No. 1361.12.10.
Cut away the covering film on the underside of the wing as shown in the illustration. Locate
the third rib bay from the
centre on each side, and remove the film prior to installing the motor nacelles.
Caution:
it is important to cut the
covering film about 5 mm from the ribs, so that it can be ironed down on the inside; do
not
cut the covering film flush
with the inside edges. Slit the film along the centre of the channeled strip for the undercarriage leg, cutting exactly the
same length as the angled section of the undercarriage unit. The hole for the end of the unit is already drilled; note
that the angled end of the undercarriage unit is deliberately a tight fit in the hole.
Drill 1.5 mm Ø pilot-holes in the position shown, insert the undercarriage unit and secure it using one aluminium strap
and two 2.2 Ø x 6.5 mm self-tapping screws, as shown in the photo. Fit the two motor power wires into the wing from
the nacelle opening, and draw them through the hole in the centre using a pair of tweezers. The next step is to glue
the motor nacelle to the wing, but first you should wipe the covering film and the joint line of the nacelle with paint
thinners to remove all traces of grease. Check that the undercarriage unit is exactly vertical. Pass the undercarriage
