LX-80-15 10 Hz Oceanographic Radar Sensor
Peak Detector Type
Configures the type of algorithm which is used to detect the peaks in the radar echo curve. The default
setting should be
Maximum peak
. In specific cases, such as when the water level needs to be measured,
but there is a lot of vegetation protruding from the water surface,
Last peak
detector type should be
used.
Wave Analysis Length
The value can be any number between 0 and 3600. If the value is set to zero, the device will not
calculate any wave parameters. The value specifices the number of water level reading points to be
used for wave parameter calculation. As the radar is making 10 measurements per second, the total
time window in seconds for wave analysis will be equal to the wave analysis length divided by 10.
For example, if the wave analysis length is set to 3600, which is the maximum possible value, that will
correspond to 360 seconds of data, or 6 minutes of data. When the radar is turned on, and if it is not
operating in SDI-12 mode, the oceanographic wave measurements will be available over RS-232 NMEA
protocol and over Modbus protocol immediately. If the total number of collected data samples is less
than the specified wave analysis length, then a smaller number of data points will be used for analysis.
After the specified number of data points is collected, the radar will discard older measurements as the
new measurements are made, and the wave parameters will be calculated from exactly the specified
number of data points. When the radar operates in SDI-12 mode, then this parameter affects the
duration returned to aM1! and aM2! commands - for more information on SDI-12 protocol see chapter 8
of this document.
