4.2.1

Serial Commu-
nications

The following procedure describes how to configure the EnerVista MM3 Setup software for 
serial communications with the local PC.

Z

Connect a GE Multilin RS232/485 converter module to the COM1 or 
COM2 PC port and wire the RS485 +/– terminals on the box to MM3 
Motor Manager 3 terminals 25/26. 
Be careful to observe correct polarity of the RS485 connections. 
Refer to 

RS485 termination

 on page 2–5 for connection details.

Start the EnerVista MM3 Setup software. 
The software will attempt to communicate with the MM3 Motor 
Manager 3. The MM3 Motor Manager 3 to PC communications 
status is displayed on the bottom right of the EnerVista MM3 Setup 
window.

To configure communications, select the 

Communications > 

Computer

 menu item. 

The Communication / Computer window appears, which  contains 
the various communications settings for the local PC. Modify these 
settings as shown below:
