HANDLING, TRANSPORT, LIFTING ONTO THE HARD
During lifting, ensure that the slings are correctly positioned and are not caught up in either
the propeller, the propeller shaft or any other hull fittings.
The lifting straps will be sufficiently wide or equipped with spreaders so as not to exert
excessive transversal stresses on the beading.
Prevent the slings from resting on the guardrails.
During transport or placing onto the hard, it is advisable that the centreboard is raised and
that the grounding skeg (extension under the hull of the centreboard casing) is well supported
throughout its entire length and bears the bulk of the boat's weight.
The cradle bases must be positioned level with the structural elements and only exert the
necessary pressure to obtain a fine balance of the boat.
DANGER
Once the boat is on ground, do not use the 220V net of the boat because the hull is not
electrically connected to the ground.
In case of longer stay requiring the use of the 220V, connect the hull to the ground, for
example by removing an anode and establishing an electrical connection between the
ground and the dowel of the anode.
PRECAUTION
Make good use of the boat being out of the water each year to inspect the propeller, the
propeller shaft, the rudders, the seacocks and the transducers.
Inspect each year the bolts that fix the centreboard axis. Check the frictions pads and
the lines of the centreboard.
Inspect each year the anodes for the hull, for the centreboard, for the propeller. Anodes
for the hull and for the centerboard are specially designed for this aluminium hull, so
order them with the Garcia yard. Be careful when you unscrew the hull and centerboard
anodes, the screw nuts are made of aluminium and could be difficult to unscrew; don’t
force and use WD40 or similar product to turn unscrewing easier.
The anodes for Autoprop propeller model (option) have to be checked more often than
for other models of propeller. The screws are peripheral and the anode can be lost if the
anode is quickly consumed.
If your boat is equipped with a Volvo three-bladed fixed propeller, regularly check the
correct fixing of the cone and the security screw.
Check twice a year the propeller anode.
