Lift

Setup

 Procedure

:

During the Set-up procedure, the call stations will not provide the “Smart light” (operator
assistance lights) feature, until the system is Set-up. In fact, as you will read, the Station
lights behave very different from normal operation while the lift in is the Set-up process.
While completing this procedure, you will notice that the “CALL COM FLT” light will be lit.
This is

normal

and will continue until you finish the lift

Setup

.

Remember, while running the lift with an unfolded platform, watch for
clearance problems on stairs and outside walls or other obstructions. Also
watch for any possible overhead clearance problems.

Do not ride on the unit yet. Wait until the fasteners are tightened after clearances have
been checked.

Refer also to the “operation light explanation” in Appendix E at the back of this Manual
for further information and as a quick reference to the indications of these lights during
the Setup sequence.

1.

Start Conditions.

To start the Set-up Procedure make sure the following items

are completed:

a)

All systems are wired and connected. All safety circuits must be wired and in the
closed position. Installation must be complete except for the Setup. Also, if the
arms and ramps are not in the “run” mode, refer to the

Repair Manual

 for

instructions on how to complete the Setup procedure with safety circuits in the
open position (Arms and Ramps out of

run

 position).

Figure 32 shows the Drive PCB conditions for Set-up. All three Drive safety lights
must be lit and the Conveyance direction button lights will also be lit.

b)

Lift is powered

on

 for at least 1 minute

c)

Platform is unfolded.

d)

Conveyance is close to, but not in, the lower landing (landing # 1).

e)

Make sure that the limit pins in back of hanger are not engaged on limit cam.

f)

The Cam is in place on the lower landing and lined up with the appropriate button
on the hanger. (Some units have two cams at lower landing).

h)

Control the area around the lift to prevent interference from others during this
procedure.

i)

The arms must be installed and the ramp linkages PROPERLY connected (refer
to figure 29 above) on the conveyance before you begin the Setup procedure.
