1.5 Precautions to Take When Using
the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU)
1. Do not apply excessive force to a cassette when it is being inserted and also while it sits inside to
keep the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU) from toppling over and to prevent possible injury to you.
2. When a long-view cassette is used, be sure to install toppling-prevention measures.
If excessive force is applied to such a cassette being inserted in the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU), the
FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU) may topple over and cause injury.
3. Do not sit on the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU) or apply your weight to it by leaning forward and placing
your hands on the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU) to keep the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU) from toppling
over and to prevent possible injury.

6. When you insert a cassette into the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU), be careful not to get your fingers
caught between the cassette and the cover.

When using the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU) with a keyboard placed on it, make certain that the
keyboard base is tucked away securely and then insert a cassette into the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU).
Otherwise, you may be injured if your hand hits the keyboard.
8. Since system sensitivity (S value) varies over time and by other factors including system trouble,
never use it for radiation-dose and/or AEC (phototimer) setting purposes.
9. If you use the S value as a measure of exposure dose for image-quality and exposed-dose control
purposes or when you use FNC (Flexible Noise Control) processing, periodically determine whether
the S value has changed noticeably in the meantime.
10. After checking information attached to radiographic images for correctness, use such information
for image interpretation work.
11. Before inserting a cassette into the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU), verify patient identification without fail
by means of the patient’s full name, birthdate and the like.

Before inserting a cassette into the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU), be sure to read the exposure menu .
13. Before inserting a cassette into the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU), make sure that the FCR XC-1
(CR-IR 355RU) is in image-reading mode. This is because cassette erasure will take place if the
FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU) is in erase mode.
14. Do not subject the equipment or cassette to vibration while an image is being read. Otherwise, an
image with unevenness or the like may be output, which will adversely affect image reading.

When you install the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU) close to a wall, use caution not to block its air outlet
openings.
If the temperature inside the FCR XC-1 (CR-IR 355RU) rises abnormally high, the image on the IP
may be imperfectly erased, possibly causing an output image that does not allow accurate image
interpretation.
