FNT : This is a parameter to determine to what extent FNC is to be applied in relation
to image density.
A Independent of density, the degree of application of FNC remains
constant.
B With increasing density, the
degree of application of FNC
decreases.
C With decreasing density, the
degree of application of FNC
decreases.

FNE : This is a parameter to determine to what extent FNC is to be applied.
It is defined over a range of 0.0 to 1.0. The value 1.0 denotes the full application
of FNC and 0.0 while the value 0.0 represents no FNC application.

Gray-scale processing parameters (GA, GT, GC, and GS)
For the meanings of the individual parameters, refer to Chapter Y

. Normally, even when
FNC is applied, there is no need to make changes to gray-scale processing conditions.

MFP processing parameters (MRB, MRT, MRE, MDB, MDT and MDE)
For the meanings of the MFP processing parameters, refer to Chapter Y
II
. Normally,
optimum frequency processing conditions vary depending on whether or not FNC is
applied. Generally, when FNC is being applied, the degree of frequency enhancement is to
be increased. (This is accomplished by either increasing MRE or changing MRT.)
Features of FNC
1. It is impossible to make things invisible visible. However, when signals are weak and
sometimes become buried in noise, the effect of making them easier to see may be
expected.
2. Frequency processing enhances noise along with signals. On the other hand, since
noise is controlled on FNC-applied images, enhancement will be able to be applied
to them to a greater degree than to conventionally prepared images. (With noise
being approximately the same as before, greater signal enhancement is possible.)
