GLOSSARY
EVR: EGR Vacuum Regulator controls EGR flow by changing vacuum to the EGR valve.
Fan: A device designed to supply a current of air. A fan may also have a frame, motor, wiring harness
and the like.
FBCA 1-4: Feedback Carburetor Actuator 1-4.
FC: Fan Control is for controlling the engine cooling fan.
FCS: Fuel Control Solenoid.
FCU: Front Control Unit of the LUX radio.
FF: Flexible Fueled vehicle able to use various methanol/gasoline mixtures.
FIC: Fast Idle Control.
Flow Charts: Constructed to direct you through a logical test sequence. The Flow Charts will save time
and money.
FM: Fan Monitor is a program inside the PCM developed for EEC-V.
FMEM: Failure Mode Effects Management is an alternative vehicle operation strategy that protects
vehicle function from the adverse effect of an EEC input or output failure.

FTP: Federal Test Procedure.
Fuel: Any combustible substance burned to provide heat or power. Typical fuels include gasoline and
diesel fuel. Other types of fuel include ethanol, methanol, natural gas, propane or a combination of fuel.
Fuel Rich/Lean: A qualitative evaluation of air/fuel ratio based on an A/F ratio known as stoichiometry
or 14.7:l. In the EEC system, rich/lean is determined by a voltage signal from the HO2S. An excess of
oxygen (lean) is indicated by an HO2S voltage of less than .4 volts; a rich condition is indicated by an
H02S voltage of greater than .6 volts.
FWD: Front Wheel Drive.
GEN: Generator “formerly Alternator” is a rotating machine designed to convert mechanical energy to
electric energy.
Goose: A brief opening and closing of the throttle (Dynamic Response Test).
