Set Inductance Output (Not Available on 5540A)
Note
Since this is a synthesized output, be sure the terminal connections from the Calibrator to the
DUT are LO to LO and HI to HI.
To set a synthesized inductance output at the front-panel OUTPUT terminals (
Function > Single
Output > Inductance
), refer to
and the example shown in Table
basics.

Set Temperature Simulation (RTD) Source
To set the RTD output (
Function > Single Output > RTD Source
and the
example shown in Table
for output entry basics.
Note
When you calibrate Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) with the three-terminal
connection shown in Figure
, make sure that the test leads have identical resistances to
cancel any errors due to lead resistance. This can be accomplished, for example, by using
three identical test lead lengths and identical connector styles.
RTDs have a characteristic resistance at specific temperatures. The simulated output, then, is a
resistance value based on the selected temperature and type of RTD being simulated. Where
necessary, use
I
to set °F or °C. To toggle the degree reference between the 1968 International
Provisional Temperature Standard (IPTS-68) and the 1990 International Temperature Standard
(IPTS-90), toggle the
Temperature Scale
softkey.
To select an RTD type:
1. Tap the RTD Type button (
). The RTD Type slide-out menu opens.
2. Select the RTD type:
• Cu 10 (427)
• Cu 50 (428)
• Cu100 (428)
• Ni 120 (672)
• Pt 100 (385)
• Pt 100 (3916)
• Pt 100 (3926)
• Pt 200 (385)
• Pt 500 (385)
• Pt 1000 (385)
