Calibrator
Zero the Calibrator
27
Reset the Calibrator
At any time during front panel operation (except during remote operation), you can push
R
to return
the Calibrator to the power-up state: 0 mV dc, Standby, 120 mV range, all volatile values set to their
most recent default values.
Zero the Calibrator
Zeroing adjusts internal circuitry, most notably dc offsets in all ranges of operation. To meet the
specifications, zeroing is required every seven days, or when the Calibrator ambient temperature
changes by more than 5 °C. The Display shows a message when it is time to zero the Calibrator.
Zeroing is particularly important when the calibration workload has 1 mW or 1 mV resolution, and when
there has been a significant temperature change in the Calibrator work environment.
To zero the Calibrator:
1. Turn on the Calibrator and allow a warm-up period of at least 30 minutes.
2. Tap the
Setup
softkey to open the Setup Menu.
3. Under
Zero Adjustment
, tap the
Run
button to open the calibration activity menu.
4. Push
Continue
as needed to step through the Zero Adjustment process. Push
Abort
to exit this
function.
Operate and Standby Modes
When the
OPERATE
annunciator is lit and
Operate
shows on the Display, the output value and
function shown on the Display are
active
at the selected terminals. When the
STANDBY
annunciator
is lit and
Standby
is shown on the Display, the output value and function shown on the Display are
inactive
at the selected terminals. To enable Operate, push
J
. To place the Calibrator in Standby,
push
L
.
If any of these events occur as the Calibrator operates, the Calibrator automatically goes into Standby:
•
R
is pushed.
• A voltage
>
30 V is selected when the previous output voltage was
≤
30 V.
• The Calibrator changes functions.
• The output location for current is changed from AUX to 30 A, or vice versa.
• An overload condition is detected.
• A reverse-power condition is detected.
