7. WAVEFORM SHAPE DEFINITIONS 

½ Sine Wave 

This waveform provides a smooth, 

physiological variation in pressure at the 

max% with a quick transition at the min%. 

Sine Wave 

This waveform provides a smooth, 

physiological variation in pressure from 

min% to max%. 

Triangle Wave 

This waveform provides a linear-ramped rise 
to the max% and a linear-ramped fall back to 

the min%. 

Square Wave 

This waveform provides the fastest possible 

rise to max%, followed by the fastest possible 

fall to min%. 

Heart (E) Wave 

This waveform applies a pressure pattern that 

mimics the shape as seen on an 

electrocardiogram 

Heart (P) Wave 

This waveform applies a pressure pattern that 

mimics the actual pressure wave generated by 

a heart beat.
