2.2. Polling Mode
The polling mode provides the exchange of data between host and one transponder via the as long as
the transponder remains in the detection field of the reader and the host has "selected" the
transponder.
In polling mode the reader answers every valid message with a data- or status responce. The answer
includes the command which has been transmitted by the host.
A transponder has to be selected before reading or writing of any data. This is executed by sending
the command to read the serial-No. (see:
4.1. [0x11] Read Serial-No. (selection of transponder)
. If a
transponder is located within the detection range of the reader at that time, the transponder is being
selected and the reader response includes the Serial-No. of the current transponder. All following
read- / write command will effect only this individual transponder. If the transponder is changed, the
new transponder first has to be selected. Otherwise an error status will be responded by the reader.
Steps necessary for the communication with a transponder in polling-mode:
1. Select transponder (message: read Serial-No.)
2. Send any command to the transponder
