2. If you do not succeed in lighting the burner, you must close both knobs (7) by
turning them to the closed position (D). Wait for a couple of minutes, and then
try again. If you still have no luck, turn off the gas again and wait for a couple of
minutes until the gas has dispersed.
3. As a last resort, turn one of the control knobs to position E, and try to ignite the
burner in question with a match. If it still does not ignite, the grill has probably
been assembled incorrectly, or the gas bottle is empty. Check the gas bottle,
regulator and the connections. Please note that it may take up to 2 minutes
before the flames are burning stably from all the holes in the burners.
Regulation
In position D, the burner is off. In position E, the burner is on full. Turning the
knob downwards from position E gradually reduces the heat. When the knob is
turned to position F, the burner burns at the lowest possible setting without being
extinguished.
Turning off
Turn off the grill by turning both control knobs to the closed position (D). Close the
gas regulator.
Warning concerning turning-off:
• Always close the gas regulator on the gas bottle after use. Remember that
children playing may accidentally turn the knobs on the grill and cause gas to leak
out.
Cooking with an open lid
Start by lighting both burners, one at a time. Leave the grill to burn for 10 minutes
until the grid is hot.
Make sure that the drip bowl (9) is clean and is positioned correctly under the
grill. You can now regulate the individual burners so the heat suits the foods to be
cooked. You can use the grill with any combination of burner settings. One burner
often provides enough heat and allows you to place the pieces of food so they are
slowly warmed up – for example when warming bread.
Cooking with a closed lid
We recommend that you do not cook under a closed lid when both burners are on.
When the lid is closed, the temperature increases quickly.
To cook using indirect heat, the food should be placed right at the back of the
grid, and only the front burner (15) should be switched on. Keep an eye on the
thermometer (1), but note that it only shows the approximate temperature.
Cleaning and maintenance
Always check that the grill is cold before cleaning it. Wash the grill with hot water
and a mild detergent. Then rinse well with clean water and wipe dry. Remember to
clean the grill thoroughly at regular intervals, and use a grill brush to clean the grid
after use.
The surface of the grill is prone to damage if sharp implements or abrasive cleaning
agents are used to clean it. If you want to clean all the parts, the grill can be
dismantled as shown under the sections on assembly and annual cleaning of the
burners.
The gas grill is supplied with a stainless steel grid, which must be cleaned after
use. For this you can use a grill brush with stainless steel bristles.
The grid and heat shield will gradually become darker as they are exposed to heat.
Such darkening cannot be cleaned off, but any food residues can be removed using
a brass grill brush. Please note that a grill brush with steel bristles will damage the
surface of the heat shield, which will then be more likely to rust.
For a particularly thorough clean, a mixture of soft soap and household ammonia
can be applied to the grid, the flame tamers and loose parts. Place the parts in a
sealed plastic bag for several hours, preferably overnight. Then remove them from
the bag and clean according to the normal procedure.
The burners (14 and 15) may gradually become clogged up. Clean the burners
regularly when they are cold using a stiff brush, and check that the holes in
the tubes are not blocked. To clean the burners or the inside of the grill cabinet
thoroughly, it is possible to remove the burners completely. For further instructions,
see below. The drip bowl should be cleaned every time the grill has been used.
Please note that the bottom heat shield should also be cleaned regularly. Wait until
the grill has cooled down before cleaning. Remove the drip bowl (9), and check
whether any fat has accumulated. Remove the fat from the drip bowl to avoid it
catching fire when using the grill, and wash the bowl in hot soapy water. Then rinse
with clean water. Reinstall the drip bowl (9). Do not use aluminium foil in the drip
bowl.
Annual cleaning of burners and insect net
At least once a year, it is necessary to clean the grill’s insect net, and the burners
(5) should also be checked and cleaned to ensure optimum burning. The insect
net can be found at the end of each burner. A clogged-up and dirty insect net can
obstruct the flow of gas and cause it to flow backwards, which can cause serious
damage to the grill.
1. Make sure that the grill is cold, and that the gas supply is switched off.
2. Remove the grid, the flame tamers and the side heat shield.
3. Then remove the two R-clips which hold the burner (5) in place.
4. Then disconnect the two wires that run from the spark lighter by pulling them
carefully out of the connections on the burner.
5. Gently lift the burner (5) out of the grill cabinet. Do not tamper with any other
parts of the grill.
6. Then ensure that the insect nets and the holes in the burners are not clogged-up
or dirty. It is important to keep the insect nets and burners clean, so remove any
dirt with a soft brush etc.
Once you have finished cleaning, replace the burners in the grill. Reattach the two
wires from the spark lighter. Replace the two R-clips. Replace the side heat shield,
the flame tamers and the grid, and reconnect the gas supply.
